Step 1.  Get yourself some regular beer mats, square with rounded edges are popular, and ensure they are dry.

Step 2.  Place them in a single pile on a square edged table so the the edge of this pile protrudes over the edge of the table.

Step 3.  The beer mats are flipped vertically by the back of the hand by an upward movement.

Step 4.  A clean catch must be made with one hand with no juggling movement, with the beermats having turned through 180 degrees.

Step 5.  No further contact is made with the bar top or table surface.

 

This is a video to show you how to flip beer mats.  It really isn’t that hard, just a bit of practice is needed.

Once you have mastered the flip and catch, just keep adding another beer mat onto the pile and try again.  The more beer mats in the pile, the harder it gets.  Or try it blindfolded for an even bigger challenge!
